It NEVER snows in Richmond to have a 2nd storm is unheard of in one winter, and then on top of it to get 11 inches is blowing everyone’s minds..  The talk now is how long will we be stuck??

It’s a pretty snow, light and fluffy so I went for a walk today and took some photo’s around the neighborhood. It was so fun to photograph snow, I haven’t done it in so long.

Hope you enjoy.

This is the church at the enterance to our neighborhood.

No one will be playing here for awhile

Bird nest in our front tree (no babies of course)

Tomorrow I will post some photos of how the puppies reacted to all the snow.. Did they or didn’t they like it?Pin It

Continued flooding of the James River which sits along the road I take to work has resulted in a small detour and some additional drive time, but not enough to really worry much about.  The flooding should be gone in a few days but with snow on the way, there is a very good chance we will repeat this next week.

The amazing thing is as far as we have heard, even with all this raging water, while some farm land has been flooded no homes have been affected and no one has been injured or worse. Got to thank above for that great piece of news.  I stopped by a waterfront area of Rt. 5 tonight on the way home and took these pictures of the flooding.

This is Dock Street. I drive through the far right arch of this building each day on my way to work.

Reverse side of terminal, normally I would drive through the far left arch.

Sunset on the James… This boat is actually tied to its’ pier, which is completely submerged.  The foreground is actually Dock Street and not part of the river.

This plant is located between the James River and Dock Street.  I believe this is not it’s first flood :)

One last look at tonight’s beautiful sunset:

Almost 2″ of rain on Sunday night on top of all the rain we had last week has pushed the James River over it’s banks. Since my office now is on the banks of the river I walked down to one of the piers over lunch and took this video, at this point the river is about 3 feet above flood point and is 5 hours from cresting..
