Happy Friday everyone. I thought I would get this post up about last weekend before this new one begins. Almost a record for me, a post within a week of the event![]()
We don’t have a vacation scheduled until late September and we were suppose to head to Long Island last weekend to see several friends but due to John’s work schedule and the time it takes to drive there and back we decided to forgo that trip and instead head to the Outer Banks. It is much closer (just under 3 hours) and it was John’s way of making up to me the missed NY trip (I really wanted to go)! We were falling into that summer runt of work, work, work and not enjoying the wonderful weather and sunshine. We needed a break !!!!!!
Since we left on Friday afternoon we missed all the beach traffic that makes traveling there on a Saturday not worth it. We arrived in no time flat, checked in to the hotel and had out first beach dinner and ice cream treat of the weekend.![]()
It doesn’t matter what you do in the OBX it never disappoints. We actually didn’t spend much time laying on the beach this weekend. I really felt like playing visitor and head to some of the touristy sights instead. It’s not something we always do and just seemed like fun for a short weekend get away. We went to one of the OBX lighthouses, climbed Jockey Ridge, ate, ate some more (it’s the beach air, gets me every time), did some shopping and just relaxed. Except for some rain Saturday morning which cleared up by mid-morning, the weather was perfect and it was a wonderful weekend! We were able to just chill out, spend some time together and now I think we can face the next 70 days until our cruise and WDW trip a little bit easier.
Of course I had the camera at the ready at all times and here are a few pictures of our weekend get away.

about the next two photos (of course food related), we will be discussing more about them in the next few days. Let me just say the donuts alone are worth the 3 hour drive![]()

I you don’t have a vacation planned for awhile or are also falling into the summer runt, I highly suggest a weekend trip somewhere close by if you can swing it. I know we will be doing it more often!
Thanks for reading, have yourself a great weekend!

Where is this place? How beautiful. I have great beaches but this looks so inviting. Not 3 hours from me but I’ve never heard of it. Do tell!
OutterBanks are one of my bucket list places to visit in the States. I can’t wait til our life allows us to travel more to see our own country! Glad you had fun!
Beautiful photos! I’ve never been to Outbanks but will get there someday. (Soon I hope!)
