Duck Donuts to be exact.

While in the Outerbanks a few weeks ago John and I discovered Duck Donuts. What is so special about these particular donuts you say, well let me explain (and show you).

They make the donuts to order. That’s right, as you order they are dropped into the oil, put on a conveyor belt, allowed to cool for a moment and then frosted/dipped per your order. How awesome is that?

They only have one type of batter, it is a yellow cake batter combined with a secret donut batter combo and is just so delicious. For frosting they only offer 6-7 different flavors/varieties and then another 5-6 types of toppings but there are enough choices that you can make many varieties. I believe we ordered Glaze, Coconut and Caramel, Chocolate and Peanuts, and Chocolate Glaze.

I took some pictures while there (bet that doesn’t surprise you :) ) so that you can see them fresh in their yummy goodness.

Seriously, how good do those look? You definitely need to plan a stop by Duck Donuts if you are in Nags Head, they have three locations and are easy to find. Plan on a short wait as the lines are usually out the door in the morning and of course it takes a few extra minutes to get your dozen since they need to actually make the donuts.

I need to get back there soon, I am usually not a donut person but these I can’t seem to stop thinking about.

Have a great evening, I will be back tomorrow with my scrapbook layouts of the week. Until then, take care!!

Had a good week of scrapping and was able to get started in the backlog of photos I have.

I am glad I decided to try my hand again at this. Even happier that I remember so many of the tricks to the trade :) . If I had forgotten a lot them, I am sure I would have done the layouts but been discouraged and then it wouldn’t be as much fun for me and I really need this to be fun and not a chore. I have plenty of those.

As part of my orientation back into digi-scrapping I visited several online galleries this week to get some ideas and see what the latest trends are. I was surprised to see that small pictures, usually only one or two with all the emphasis on the kits and embellishments is still the trend. I never understood that. I scrap to show the photos, the event and so in my layouts I still show lots of photos, usually on a larger scale and use the kits to highlight the story. I hope I accomplish that.

I am anxious to get caught up but have decided to not put a deadline to be done on myself. Again, I think that will take away some of the fun. Sure I would like to be able to do more big layout weeks like this one but for now my goal is more realistic and that is to get done what I can get done and go from there. Maybe I can get close to being caught up before the holidays, maybe not, we will see. No pressure, just fun!

So now that I have chatted up a storm here, let us get to why you came to look at this post. Here are my layouts this week. Hope you enjoy and be sure to leave a comment down there under my signature so I know what you think (good or bad is fine as long as it is constructive :) )
