Last weekend I took myself on a little roadtrip since John was working. I finally drive down the road marked Shirley Plantation as John and I had passed by it so many times but never checked out. It’s a large plantation that sits along the James River just outside Richmond.
The main house (shown below) and several of the outer buildings still stand. What is unique about this plantation is it is the only one which remains in the original family and get this the 11th generation of this family still lives in the upstairs of the house. The downstairs is open to the public for tours.

That is amazing. Gorgeous house – and truly impressive that it still remains with the original family.
That’s amazing that the descendants of the original family still live there. I can’t imagine! You’ve done a great job with the HDR–so many times I’ve seen HDR that looks way too funky.
Fantastic shot! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful old house!
so pretty!
Would love to visit! So much history there! Great shot!
Imagine the stories of this house! And I also really like that your HDR is not over-the-top. I love the color of the sky in this shot!
