Spend a few more dollars than I planned this week but Kohls had an item on sale that was on my to buy list for months so I ordered it with a 30% code, free shipping and Kohls cash so while I spent I saved :)   I also stayed within my gas and grocery budget for the week so no overages to report which makes me very happy.  I still have $40 left for groceries for the month so will use that next weekend to stock up on produce and dairy as needed.

Here is the latest update on the No Spend challenge.  Outside of budgeted items (food, gas, bills) I am attempting to spend as little as possible this month.  Yesterday John and I ran a few errands and that was a challenge to come home with zero money spent.  I did have to tell myself a few times that I really didn’t need the item I was looking at but I did it. Zero money spent except for our Steak & Shake meal which was done for a research project at work and that I will be reimbursed for.

Here is my first update for No Spend February .  For those who are new to this challenge the idea is to spend nothing more than what was budgeted for in a specific time frame.  I decided to bite the bullet and challenge myself for the entire month.

The budget for February includes monthly bills, gas for my car, one meal a week eating out, groceries, ink for my printer and medical (if the need arises). That’s it.  There is nothing else I can think of that I need that can’t wait.

I probably track differently then some others as when I pay for a monthly expense (bills, car payments, etc.) I don’t think of that as “spend days” as the expense is a given unless I go over the budgeted item then that overage amount will go on the spend chart. Example: Gas budget was $50, if I spend $60 then I spent $10 and would record the $10.  Are you following me here? One more example: My grocery budget for the month is $250, I am not going to list grocery spends on the chart below as a spend day unless I go over the $250 because it is a given spend. We must buy groceries, even if it is only dairy or produce.

Whatever money I have left at the end of the 29 days will be moved half into our cruise fund and half into our Christmas fund so that we can get those taken care of sooner than later :)
