Yellow Rose

I like looking up the symbolic meanings and words of objects.  They are usually so powerful and “say” so much.

I decided to look up the meanings behind the yellow rose since they are so beautiful and my very favorite flower since I was a teenager! I had no idea that (according to Google) they symbolize the promise of new beginnings, welcome backs, remember me, joy, gladness, friendship, & delight!   Makes perfect sense to me as to why they would be a favorite of mine.

St. John’s Church

Literally had no idea this church existed.  I was out for a drive last month (thus the green grass) and saw one of those roadside signs for a historical landmark next to an old road and decided to turn down the street at the last minute.

This is the Old St. John’s Church in King William County, VA.  It was built in 1732 and has been completely restored.  There was a sign that said that while no longer an active parish, it was available for weddings and special services..  I think this would be a perfect setting for a small, intimate celebration as the grounds are as beautiful as the building itself.  I would also love to see this church covered in snow.

Old Barn down the road from my house.

 

 

Lots to do today starting with work and then more prep for our cruise.  We leave Friday.  I am just a “little” excited:)

I like the leading line of the driveway. It still looks like summer there…. all of our crops are brown now and the trees in varying stages of loosing their pretty leaves.
