Had a good week of scrapping and was able to get started in the backlog of photos I have.

I am glad I decided to try my hand again at this. Even happier that I remember so many of the tricks to the trade :) . If I had forgotten a lot them, I am sure I would have done the layouts but been discouraged and then it wouldn’t be as much fun for me and I really need this to be fun and not a chore. I have plenty of those.

As part of my orientation back into digi-scrapping I visited several online galleries this week to get some ideas and see what the latest trends are. I was surprised to see that small pictures, usually only one or two with all the emphasis on the kits and embellishments is still the trend. I never understood that. I scrap to show the photos, the event and so in my layouts I still show lots of photos, usually on a larger scale and use the kits to highlight the story. I hope I accomplish that.

I am anxious to get caught up but have decided to not put a deadline to be done on myself. Again, I think that will take away some of the fun. Sure I would like to be able to do more big layout weeks like this one but for now my goal is more realistic and that is to get done what I can get done and go from there. Maybe I can get close to being caught up before the holidays, maybe not, we will see. No pressure, just fun!

So now that I have chatted up a storm here, let us get to why you came to look at this post. Here are my layouts this week. Hope you enjoy and be sure to leave a comment down there under my signature so I know what you think (good or bad is fine as long as it is constructive :) )

I am very, very behind on my scrapbooking. I was looking through some files the other day and it appears I have over 50 different folders with pictures in them that need to be scrapped so I have decided to really get busy and see if I can get caught up, or at least get a handle on this before my two upcoming fall trips. Catching up means though that I will be scrapping in no particular order, just whatever mood I am in will dictate the path I take so be prepared to see a little of this and a little of that along the way. So first up, some fireworks. This is my favorite night time show in WDW. I have seen it so many times in person I have lost count. It is such a powerful show, the music, the words, the fireworks. If you are in Epcot, this is a no miss show! (notice how I bolded the no miss :) and if you are there in the holiday season when they add the Peace on Earth tag (one of my all time favorite songs) be prepared to be totally caught up in the story and the music even more.

Now that I am heading back to the world a bit sooner than I thought it is time to put the scrapping of our last trip into high gear or I will be totally behind and never catch up so you will probably see more layouts here than you have seen lately. While on our cruise aboard the Disney Wonder in December we were able to attend a private concert by Jodi Benson, who is the voice of the Little Mermaid as well as several other Disney characters including Barbie in the Toy Story II and III movies. She spent about 90 minutes talking and singing her way through her career before, during and still with Disney. We were totally caught up in her tales and I know I will never listen to “Part of Your World” again without thinking a bit deeper about its meaning and how it was recorded. She allowed both photos and video to be taken during the show which most performers do not do so of course I took advantage of being able to do both and snapped away. This first layout are shots taken during her performance:

The response was so large that the lines literally wrapped around the lobby of the Walt Disney Theater and she stayed (without complaint we are told) for almost 2 hours making sure each person was greeted with the same smile and enthusiasm as the first person was. Here is the layout I did of my friend Brandie and I meeting her.

Background paper from the Under the Sea kit by Minicake Designs Font is Elizabeth, bubbles by Lyndsay Riches. I am not sure who made the topper as I have had it in my stash for a very long time. Little Mermaid design is the property of the Walt Disney Company.
